Singapore: Day 2

We woke up early and went out around 9am to go to the mall and buy a cell phone. But it turns out that nothing here really opens until 11. So we found a boat tour and went around the Marina.
We saw a lot of really impressive architecture as the tour boat meandered through the river and marina. After the tour we decided to walk the whole path around the marina.

This is the Merlion, the mascot of Singapore. According to Wikipedia, The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" inJavanese. The lion head represents Singapore's original name — Singapura — meaning "lion city" or "kota singa".

This hotel looks amazing! There's 3 towers with what looks like a giant cruise ship perched on top of it. We're going to stay there on our last night here. Pics will certainly be happening.

As we moseyed around the marina, we saw the Singapore Flyer in the distance and thought it'd be a good way to see the city from above.

And it was certainly a great view! On the left is the Marina Bay Sands hotel. The building below it is the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. The strangely shaped building to its right is the ArtScience museum. And to the far right is a floating soccer field. Its seats aren't visible in this picture, but they're the multicolor chairs in the previous photo.

In a building in the water outside the mall, and also accessible by underground tunnel, is the Louis Vuitton store.

This mall is incredibly beautiful. I've never seen anything like it. When we approached it, this escalator was standing still. We assumed it was broken. But when we stepped onto it, it started moving. They turn off the escalators when nobody is using them. Genius.

For a light dinnerish snack I had Kaya Toast and a Milo Dinosaur. It's a cold chocolate drink with chocolate powder on top. Delicious.

This is the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market. There's probably 100 different places to eat with all sorts of different foods from around Asia. And right outside is a Wendys.
